The Management Committee

Meet the Members of the Management Committee
Picture 1 Acting Chair of Management Committee: Tim Samuel -I have been lucky enough to be on the management committee since becoming the Headteacher at Walton on the Hill Primary School in September 2013. My dad worked in schools for children with severe and profound learning disabilities and I always remember the respect and attention to the individual needs of every child that was shown in the schools he worked in; something I see in abundance at The Surrey Teaching Centre. I have taught from Reception through to A-Level age groups both in the UK and abroad and am now very proud to be the Headteacher at our wonderful school. Beyond school my favourite thing to do is spend time with my wife and 2 children while occasionally finding time to play tennis, golf and my French Horn!
Picture 2 Community Member: Andrea Ashton Coulton - I have worked within the field of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities for the past 23 years & am currently Senior Area Lead for Specialist Teaching Team for Inclusive practice supporting South East Surrey schools. I have experience at senior leadership level within Special Schools leading Curriculum, Assessment and Learning and Teaching & Designated Safeguarding Lead. Latterly I was Headteacher at a Secondary Special school for students with Severe and Profound learning difficulties and those with ASD. I am also a Co-operative committee member for Community Farm which includes home for Young Adults with Learning difficulties.
Picture 3 Community Member: Jo Hawkins - I have been working as a School Business Manager (SBM) since 2002, working in the primary and secondary sector. During this period I have spent two periods working as part of the Education Finance team who support Surrey County Council schools. This has involved training new SBMs, operationally supporting schools experiencing financial issues and being attached to an allocation of schools supporting them with financial monitoring and strategic financial planning on an ongoing basis. Since September 2013 I have also been working with Academy schools both pre and post conversion. Working on the management committee of The Surrey Teaching Centre offers an opportunity to use my operational skills to support the staff that do so much to support the pupils who attend here to achieve their maximum potential.
Picture 4 LA Member: Ann Butters - I work for Surrey County Council within the Schools & Learning team, in a role which involves providing advice and support to schools and parents on a wide range of education issues. I have been a member of the Surrey Teaching Centre Management Committee since 2013, and I am the lead Committee Member for safeguarding. I am passionate about supporting all children and young people to achieve the best outcomes possible.
